Cocalito Mangrove Tour
This laid-back kayak adventure takes you through the middle section of the estuary and the mangroves surrounding our boathouse in Cocalito. Your guide will explain the natural habitat while searching for birds, iguanas and turtles along the way.

Rivermouth Tour
Depart from the west side of El Paredón and paddle around the last bend of the channel, passing the Acome River. At low tide, large numbers of estuary birds can often be seen feeding along the sand flats. The trip continues to the sandpit near the river mouth, where you can enjoy the solitude and cool off in the gentle currents. It is an ideal adventure to schedule around sunset.

Poza del Nance Turtle Tour
Created for wildlife lovers, this adventure passes the river mouth before entering secret mangrove channels that lead to La Poza del Nance. This deep-water lagoon is a feeding area where Galápagos green sea turtles may be seen throughout the year. It is one of our most challenging and rewarding tours, with sun, currents and occasional wind along the route.

This tour is tide-dependent and only operates when conditions are suitable. Advance reservations are recommended. If no turtles are spotted, you may return another time at no additional charge.

El Naranjo Wildlife Tour
Begin in the colorful village of El Naranjo, located near the headwaters of the reserve. Paddle quietly through the narrow upper section of the estuary while looking for waterfowl, turtles, boas, iguanas and even otters. The route continues through dense mangroves before opening into a wider channel leading back toward El Paredón. This longer 9.5 km adventure is best suited for experienced paddlers and dedicated wildlife enthusiasts.

Sipacate–Naranjo Kayak Expedition
Paddle through the entire Sipacate–Naranjo Nature Reserve on a two-day, 20+ km expedition. The first day follows the El Naranjo route before an overnight stay at a private villa with a pool in El Paredón. On the second day, paddle toward La Poza del Nance, explore hidden mangrove channels and finish in Sipacate with a fresh seafood lunch.
Double room in a private villa with pool, guides, life jackets, dry bags, backrests, dinner on day one, breakfast and lunch on day two, refreshments, round-trip transfers, Sipacate ferry, T-shirt and Black Sand Kayaks stickers.
The expedition starts and ends in El Paredón. Transportation from Antigua or Guatemala City can be arranged for an additional cost. Advance reservations are required.
