Kayak Tours

Our tours are designed to fit all different skill levels and ages.  We have tours for seasoned paddlers who wont shy away from paddling the  full +20km of the reserve, or shorter paddle itineraries for novice and first time kayakers.  Our rental services give visitors to El Paredon the opportunity to paddle and explore the mangroves on their own. Our primary goal is to operate fun, safe and cost friendly paddle adventures.  Make the most out of your adventure time on this unique wildlife habitat in Guatemala’s Pacific Coast exploring the mangroves with Black Sand Kayaks!

El Paredon Tour: 90 minutes

Rivermouth Tour: 2hrs

We start our trip on the boat ramp on the west side of El Paredon and go around the last bend in the channel before passing by the Acome River.   Along the sandbar, especially at low tide we can appreciate great quantities of estuary birds feeding on the sand flats.  Our goal for the day is the sandpit at either side of the river mouth where we can enjoy great solitude, and a bath on the conveyer belt currents coming in from the breakers on the ocean.  This is an ideal trip to program for sunset and a paddle back to El Paredon at dusk! 2 person Minimum

Poza del Nance Turtle Tour: 3.5hrs

For those of you who love wildlife particularly sea turtles and birds, this is the trip for you!

The first part of this tour cruises along the sand bar past the river mouth, much like our river mouth tour, but then goes through secret mangrove channels that take us to the turtle sanctuary known as La Poza del Nance. This deep water lagoon is where Galapagos Green Sea Turtles can be seen feeding on algae year round.  This is our most challenging trip, with lots of sun, currents and sometimes wind, but also one of the most rewarding!  Our Guarantee:  If we don’t spot any turtles on this tour, you can come back any other time for FREE!  2 person Minimum

Includes: Guide, Lifejacket, Dry Bag, Refreshment

El Naranjo Wildlife Tour: 3 hrs.

This tour starts in the colorful village of El Naranjo located at the headwaters of the reserve. Here we launch our kayaks into the narrow upper section of the estuary.  Keeping quiet with our eyes wide open, theres a good chance we will have the opportunity to spot a great variety of waterfowl, as well as turtles, boas, iguanas and even sea otters in this otherworldly landscape. As we continue paddling through thick mangroves towards the middle sections of the estuary, the channel widens offering some smooth paddle tracking all the way back to El Paredon. This is one of our longer paddling adventures(9.5)kms, best suited for keen paddlers and dedicated wildlife enthusiasts!  2 person Minimum.
